Tom Ferrara – CEO, Co-Founder
Tom Ferrara is the Co-founder and CEO of Edufficient. Tom is widely regarded as a pioneer and key innovator in the for-profit education and inquiry generation industries. As co-founder and CEO of CUnet, Tom architected many groundbreaking products and services- including the Partner Inquiry Management System. This led CUnet to quickly develop into one of the premier full-service agencies in the space, as they partnered with more than 400 colleges and universities- providing inquiry management and recruitment services.
Prior to CUnet, Tom was Vice President of Admissions and Marketing at Career Education Corporation. Prior to Career Education Corp. Tom was the CEO of CareerEngine, where he grew an internet company and application service provider from a start-up to a successful, publicly held company. Following his tenure at CareerEngine, he authored a Job Search book for Thomson Learning and joined Career Education Corp. to successfully lead admissions and marketing for what was its largest campus at the time. Tom, who is regularly consulted by top analysts, schools, and investment banks, has been interviewed on television by NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and included in more than 50 articles in print publications such as the Wall Street Journal, NY Times, and Institutional Investors. Tom also maintains several positions on the advisory boards of several successful companies serving the education, job search, marketing, and human capital industry. Tom graduated from Bucknell University with a BA in Political Science. Tom is also the creator of MarketDrivenEDU.com and The Market Driven Education Industry group on LinkedIn – the largest networking group within the sector.
David Flack – President, Co-Founder
David Flack is the President and Co-founder of Edufficient. David is a highly passionate and successful leader and entrepreneur with several years of executive experience in the higher education industry. David’s last role was co-founder, President & COO of CUnet- where he orchestrated operations and marketing that transformed CUnet into becoming one of the leaders in the online higher education sector.
Prior to CUnet, David contributed 14 years to the career space- most notably as Founder and Partner of the technology consulting firm ComStaff Services, Inc., which he developed from a start-up company to a multi-million dollar business and as Director of Sales for TSL Services, Inc., where he helped create an incredibly profitable and thriving professional services business. In addition to his involvement in the consulting and professional services sector, David also served as the Northeast Regional Marketing Manager at Metropolitan Fiber Systems (MFS), where he participated in the growth of an entrepreneurial company being one of the first Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC) in the country. He supported project plans for the implementation of facilities-based local access and fostered marketing partnerships and programs to launch and grow their service offerings. David attended University of Hartford.
Jamie Krug – CTO (and Awesome Guy)
Jamie Krug developed an early love for programming, writing a BASIC program on a RadioShack TRS-80 to track “little league” baseball batting averages at an early age. He entered college as a computer science major but ended up with a Bachelor’s degree in music and mathematics minor. Jamie has built and supported a variety of small and large scale applications since 2001, featuring Java, Groovy, CFML, modern JavaScript (e.g., Angular), Linux, AWS, and much more. He also appreciates and contributes to open-source software projects. Jamie was the lead engineer during a critical early growth stage of InvisionApp.com. He was the first hire, partner, and CTO of CUnet and led all development and technology from startup through the sale. Prior to CUnet, Jamie was a lead developer at CareerEngine, Tom Ferrara’s first internet venture. He has also been a speaker and panelist at technology conferences around the country.
Tim Greaux – SVP of Client Services
Tim has more than 15 years of marketing experience with 11 of those being in the higher education industry. As the first employee hired at CUnet, he was the Director of the Vendor Lead Management System account team and was instrumental in building and leading this team, as well as creating the processes and protocols for the department. In this role, Tim not only molded the infrastructure of the department but was also key to building high-level strategic partners with clients and marketing providers. After spending almost 7 years at CUnet, Tim went on to join Integrate.com to provide expertise and help grow the education vertical on the Integrate platform. He then spent a year and a half at EducationDynamics where he was the Director of Strategic Accounts. Tim was the strategic lead for top tier schools in the for-profit education industry. Forming key high-level relationships was vital in this role to be able to understand client goals and pain points to provide solutions to them. Tim has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration / Marketing from Montclair State University.
Carrie Unkel – Vice President of Digital
Carrie is a highly accomplished, dynamic, and passionate online marketer with 22 years of progressive experience in graphic design, UX design, SEO, PPC, PPL, affiliate marketing, social media, email marketing, content marketing, and traditional marketing channels with outstanding skills in providing strategic direction to meet marketing and business goals. She is skilled at organizing, improving, and implementing operational systems to execute objectives in fast-paced industries.
Before becoming the Vice President of Digital for Edufficient, Carrie started her career at Educate Inc as part of Sylvan Learning and the Internet Strategy Group (ISG). She was influential in developing ISG’s capabilities, starting with launching social media marketing for several Laureate Education international schools. After spending ten years with ISG, Carrie spent three years at a local Baltimore Agency, MGH, developing online strategies for several Maryland and Virginia-based universities. She left MHG to take the Director of Website Strategy position with Delta Career Education, introducing her to for-profit higher ed. Four years later, Carrie transitioned to Ancora Education as their Sr. Director of Digital to help expand their internal marketing team. At Ancora Education, Carrie quickly made an impact and became essential in managing both digital and marketing operations. She moved from Ancora to help another local Baltimore agency GKV as the VP of Digital strategy to help transform their digital capabilities. A year later, she was offered an Executive position as the VP of Marketing for a small K-12 education start-up, Hudson Global Scholars. She spent two years helping grow the company and developing the marketing team’s domestic and international marketing capabilities.
Carrie attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County on a track scholarship. In her free time, she can be found surrounded by family and friends, running, or avidly supporting her sons’ passion for soccer as both a coach and mother. Whether behind the desk or on the field, Carrie is driven and committed to doing her best and supporting the team! A few notable awards include the American Graphic Design Award, WebAwards, Internet Advertising, MarketingSherpa, The Stevie Awards, and MarCom.
